Opening times

The Practice will be closed on Wednesday 17th December 2025 between 12.30 pm and 3.00 pm. If you telephone the surgery between these times, you will be transferred to the Out of Hours doctors.

We will be closed over the Christmas period on:

Thursday 25th December 2025
Friday 26th December 2025
Thursday 1st January 2026

On Wednesday 24th and Wednesday 31st December -
our Practice phone lines will be closed in the afternoons, but if you phone the surgery on these 2 afternoons you will be transferred to the Out of Hours doctors. The Fitzalan branch site will be closed on these 2 days, but the main Handsworth site will still be open all day. 

Calls through to reception are from 8am to 12pm and then 1.30pm to 6.30pm. From 12pm to 1.30pm calls will be transferred to the out of hours doctors. 

On Thursday afternoons phone lines close at 1pm. From 1pm to 6.30pm your call will be transferred to the out of hours doctors.

Please note: on some days throughout the year the Practice may be closed for staff training. If your circumstances are urgent please call the usual Practice telephone number and the Out of Hours Doctors will assist you.

If you need medical help when we are closed, use NHS 111 online or telephone 111.

NHS 111 online is for people aged 5 and over. Telephone 111 if you need help for a child under 5 years old.

Call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency. This is when someone is seriously ill or injured or their life is at risk.

If the Practice is closed during the day on weekdays:
If you need urgent medical help when the Practice is closed (before 6.30 pm and it's not a public holiday), call the Practice on 0114 2697505 or 0114 2889777. You will reach the out-of-hours doctors.

Minor Injuries Unit
There is a NHS 'walk-in' Minor Injuries Unit at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, open 8am to 8pm, seven days a week, for minor injuries. The address is Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Glossop Road, Broomhall, Sheffield, S10 2JF. The service is for people aged 16 and over. 

Accident and Emergency
The Accident and Emergency Unit is at the Northern General Hospital, Herries Road, Sheffield S5 7AU, and is open 24 hours.

Sheffield Children's Hospital Accident and Emergency department (for ages 0 to16) is at Western Bank, Broomhall, Sheffield, S10 2TH, and is also open 24 hours.

NHS Walk in Centre
The Sheffield NHS Walk in Centre is in the city centre:
